Lexus has greenlit the LC 500 Inspiration Series concept for limited production.
Last August, Lexus unveiled a new version of the LC 500 grand tourer with a yellow paint job, so bright it very nearly blinded every pedestrian at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Now, Lexus wants to unleash that brilliant shade of yellow upon the world by okay-ing the LC 500 Inspiration Series concept for limited production.
Lexus made the announcement at the Chicago Auto Show on Wednesday by unveiling the production version of the car, mentioning that it represents the third vehicle of Lexus’s Inspiration Series. Retained is the bright Flare Yellow exterior that allows the Inspiration Series to be seen from orbit without the benefit of optical enhancement.
Along with enough yellow to blot out the sun are a set of 21-inch wheels with similarly sized tires for additional road presence. It seems hardly necessary given how any driver of this car will suddenly find themselves alone on the road as no one will be able to drive next to this LC 500’s brightness, but we’re sure Lexus just had a bunch of these wheels just lying around and needed to get rid of them.
There’s also a healthy dash of carbon fiber on this LC 500 Inspiration Series, including a carbon fiber roof, grille inserts, and door sills. Those sills will come with a number to mark each Inspiration Series made, from one to 100.

The yellow theme is continued on the inside with yellow Alcantara door inserts and touring seats with yellow stitching. That same stitching is continued on the glove box, instrument panel, and center console.
No changes under the hood to report. The LC 500 retains its big 5.0-L V8 with 471 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed through a 10-speed automatic transmission and can help catapult the LC 500 from zero to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. Top speed is 168 mph.
Lexus will also give each Inspiration Series owner a leather travel bag that matches the bright yellow paint of the car so you can blind everyone at the airport as you travel.
Pricing starts at $106,210, which is roughly 14 grand over the price of a regular LC 500. If blinding the world with your yellowness is that important to you, you can pick one of these cars up starting in April.
